Ibrahim Alladin

A Cry for Freedom. The Story of Chagos, is the latest book authored by Dr Ibrahim
Alladin. Released in February 2025, the book is receiving international acclaim.
While he was a student in London in the 1970s, he first heard of the Chagos and the
militarisation of the Indian Ocean. Since then, he has actively sought justice for the
Chagossians.

Dr Ibrahim Alladin, born in Mauritius, is the Executive Director of The Alladin Foundation/
Alladin Charity, a charitable organisation registered in Mauritius. He has over
thirty years of experience in the field of education and management and has travelled
to over fifty-five countries as a consultant and advisor. He is also a Professor and has
lectured at several universities in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He is an
external examiner for doctoral candidates.
Dr Alladin graduated from universities in England, Australia, and Canada. His areas
of research include cultural diversity, socio-integration of minorities, and military
conflict. As a sociologist, he has written extensively on society, social change, and
political economy. He has published in various academic journals and has authored
more than twenty-five books. His first novel was entitled Blood and Rose. He has
written the biography of eminent personalities such as Cassam Uteem, Nachimuthu
Mahalingam and Maulana Abdool Aleem Siddiqui. He is one of the most acclaimed
writers in Mauritius.

Dr Alladin has lived and worked in Canada, Australia, and England. He started teaching
at the University of Alberta in Canada and eventually became the Director of
International Education. He was also the Director of Immigration Services and Citizenship
Education in Edmonton, Alberta. He was the team leader of a major project
in Russia, and he was one of the first non-Russians to be appointed Professor at Altai
State University in Russia for his pioneering work on global education. His text on
global education was translated into Russian.

Dr Alladin has received several awards and recognition for his work and dedication
to the betterment of society. He received the Citizenship Citation Award from the
Government of Canada, the Dr Mahalingam Award for his work in rural Tamil Nadu,
India. He is also a Paul Harris Fellow. Aside from writing, he is engaged in community
development with his Foundation.
